Frequently Asked Questions
Neuropathy involves an array of disorders, which occur when the nervous system experiences damage. Many refer to this condition as peripheral neuropathy, and it tends to be a result of damage to nerve axons. Neuropathy tends to cause pain and numbness in the hands and feet. It can result from traumatic injuries, infections, metabolic conditions, and exposure to toxins. One of the most widespread causes of neuropathy is diabetes.
Roughly 30% of neuropathy cases are idiopathic, which means they are of unknown cause. Another 30% of neuropathies are due to diabetes. About 50% of people with diabetes develop some neuropathy. The remaining cases, acquired neuropathies, have several possible causes, including trauma, nutritional deficiency, alcoholism, autoimmune diseases, poison exposure, and inherited disorders.
The symptoms of peripheral neuropathy differ based on the type you have and what part of the body is affected. Symptoms can vary from tingling in a specific body part to more severe ones like burning pain or paralysis. Other symptoms include muscle weakness, cramps, muscle spasms, numbness in body parts, sleep disruptions, loss of balance, and bladder control.
We know how good our comprehensive care is, but you should hear it from our patients yourself.
I have loved my experience with Dr. O. He is very thorough and makes sure you understand exactly what's going on with your body before moving forward with a treatment plan.
I've had trouble with my legs for several years. It bothered me so much that I had to get up each night and pace the floor before I could go back to sleep. After starting the program, I've got to the point where I can sleep through the night without waking up with an aching leg. When I finish this program, I'm going to be in a lot better shape than the day I walked in.
I have neuropathy in my feet and legs. After 12 visits I am no longer on any pain medication, I'm not having any symptoms at night and am able to sleep without pain. I am extremely happy with my choice.
My feet have been dead for quite some time. About 3 to 4 weeks into the program I noticed I could feel the carpet. That's the first time I've done that for some time. Now after several more weeks following the program, I'm more confident in my driving and walking. It's been a good program for me.
I'm getting better and I feel a whole lot better and it's working!
I had severe neuropathy and have been in the healthcare industry for over 40 years, so I was skeptical. Now my meds have been cut, my pain is gone and my neurologist is amazed!
